Flora Garden Club (Manchester, Iowa)
Biography
The Flora Garden Club of Manchester, Iowa was organized on February 11, 1949. During the early years, the Club was affiliated with the National Council for State Garden Clubs, Incorporated. The Flora Garden Club originally met on the first and third Friday of every month from February through December. Membership was not to exceed twenty-four. Officers of the club included a president, vice-president and a secretary-treasurer. In the beginning committees included membership, program, flower, park, and calling committees. Dues were fifty cents per year and paid for membership in the City Federation as well as other expenses. Early programs included "Plant Shrubs for Color All Season", "Birds in Your Backyard", and "Conservation".
