According to an article in Life Magazine July 20, 1953, the artist (1912-1973) worked in the 1930s to 1950s as a typist in the Barcelona police department. Coming home to her apartment after work, she sat down at an old Underwood typewriter and made true images from copies of old paintings and photographs using 17 different colored ribbons and a mixture of letters and punctuation marks without requiring brush or pencil retouching. She typed on gesso coated canvas. The vividly colored typewriter pictures were commissioned by Barcelona art patrons. An internet search failed to uncover any of her work in Spanish museums.
