Mars Observations / Hickman, Craig., 2001

 Item
Identifier: CC-42219-44224
Scope and Contents

This book was published in conjunction with an exhibition at "The Art Gym" in Marylhurst University, Marylhurst Oregon. The Sackners purchased the print from pages 14-15 in this book. In the afeterward essay "Mars Observations Observations" Terri M. Hopkins writes, "In the spread using four Romance languages on two pages with the headings 'Traducao de Maquina' and 'Traduction Automatique' (pages 14-15), the artist over-does it on the various accents and markings. Hickman puts accents on all the e's, tildes over the a's, and cedillas under all the c's. Anyone who has ever struggled to learn and write a second language can empathize with the temptation to simply get it over with and mark everything." -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
