Scope and Contents

This issue carries the header, "The Buddhist 3rd Class Junkmail Oracle" and is the successor to "Swamp Erie Pipe Dream." It is stated that this first issue is dedicated to r.j.s. (poet, publisher and martyr) and to paul robinson (folksinger). The cover collage was made from the prints of the Japanese artist Shiko Munakata. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.

Camoron in a personal communication notes that these pages contain "suggestions for everyone I shd invite to contribute to 'oxpo" - the expo at Oxford I curated - with my notes & check marks, perforated for use in a binder, not graphically interesting but packed with names & comments on concrete poets &c." Houedard comments in this letter"now this time yiou better REALLY get me in touchw/ this stinking FAMILY & none of your branchmanagers..." The trial in question was that of Cunliffe for the publication of Arthur Moyse's Golden Convolvulus:a literary anthology of erotica seized by the Blackburn constabulary whilst in transit to subscribers with the cheerful aquiescence of the G.P.O! Amongst others present at the trial & commenting on proceedings are George Melly, Christopher Logue, John Calder, Dom Sylvester Houedard, Cavan McCarthy, Anselm Hollo & Gael Turnbull with 16 pages of opinion from the general public & other writers as well as official response expressed in correspondence. ... -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
