Biography

Lloyd John Dunn was born in Harlan, Iowa on November 10, 1957. He received a B.A. in Linguistics in 1981 and an M.F.A. in Film, Photography, and Intermedia in 1987, both from the University of Iowa. He began publishing Photo Static Magazine in Iowa City in 1983. Other publications that Dunn was involved with include Retrofuturist, YAWN, The Bulletin of the Copyright Violation Squad, The Expatriot, PSRF, and The Photostatic Magazine Retrograde Archive. In 1986 he began making audio art and, with Ralph Johnson and John Heck, he formed the group the Tape-beatles.

As of May 2001 Dunn had moved to Prague, Czech Republic, and maintains a website at http://pwp.detritus.net.

Abstract

Publisher of Retrofuturist and PhotoStatic magazines and member of collage music groups the Tape-beatles and Public Works. The collection includes audio cassettes as well as two boxes of videotapes and a number of small art works which incorporate audio cassettes.
