Biography

West Virginia native, Philip B. Hill (1931 -- ) did not move to Iowa until the 1960s. He was educated at Princeton University receiving his A.B. degree in 1952 and at the West Virginia College of Law where he graduated in 1957. His first job out of law school was as an associate in the firm of Dayton, Campbell & Love in Charleston, West Virginia. In 1961, he became a partner in another Charleston law office. Hill moved to Iowa in 1965, where he joined Equitable of Iowa as Associate Counsel. He was promoted to Counsel in 1970. Hill served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1971 to 1974. He was an Iowa state senator from 1975 to 1979.
