Biography
Jane Alison Weiss was born on October 19, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland, to Thomas W. and Doris Pope Weiss. She received her B.A. in journalism from Pennsylvania State University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from Stanford University. Weiss was an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Women's Studies at the University of Iowa from 1978 to 1981. She was killed in an automobile accident on June 5, 1981 at the age of thirty-seven.
