Biography

Ashley Hinson was born in Des Moines in 1983 and attended Valley High School. After receiving a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California, Hinson worked as an on-air reporter for KCRG in Cedar Rapids. She successfully ran for the Iowa House as a Republican in 2016, serving District 67 (parts of the Cedar Rapids area) from 2017-2021. She was then elected to the U.S. House, serving the Iowa 1st district from 2021-2023 and the Iowa 2nd beginning in 2023.
