Biography
Anesa Kajtazović was born in Bihać, Bosnia and Herzogovina in 1986. When she was 11 years old, her family emigrated to the United States as refugees from the Bosnian War. In 2010, at the age of 23, Kajtazović ran for the Iowa legislature as a Democrat and won, becoming the youngest women ever elected to that body. She represented parts of the Waterloo area in the Iowa House, serving District 21 from 2011-2013 and District 61 from 2023-2025.
