Biography

Heather Matson was born in 1976 in Rhode Island. She earned a bachelors degree in government from Western New England College and a masters in legislative affairs from George Washington University. She moved to Iowa with her husband in 2003, where she worked as a homemaker and independent political consultant. In 2018, Matson ran to represent parts of Ankeny in the Iowa House (District 38) as a Democrat and won. Though she lost her 2020 reelection campaign for that district, she ran again in 2022 and was elected to represent the Ankeny residents of House District 42.
