Biography

Amy Nielsen was born in Keokuk in 1978 and graduated from West High in Iowa City. She attended Kirkwood Community College and worked as a homemaker and caretaker for her three children. In 2016, after a year of serving as mayor of North Liberty, Nielsen ran for the Iowa legislature as a Democrat and won. She has represented parts of Johnson County since 2017, serving House District 77 from 2017-2023 and District 85 beginning in 2023.
