Biography
Amanda Ragan was born in 1954 in Mason City. After receiving degrees from North Iowa Area Community College and Buena Vista University, she worked as the executive director of the Community Kitchen of North Iowa and of Mason City’s Meals on Wheels program. A Democrat, Ragan represented Mason City and surrounding areas in the Iowa Senate for over 20 years, serving District 10 (Cerro Gordo, Worth, and parts of Mitchell counties) from 2001-2003, District 7 (Mitchell, Floyd, and parts of Cerro Gordo counties) from 2003-2013, and District 27 (Franklin and parts of Cerro Gordo and Mitchell counties) from 2013-2023.
