Biography

Amy Sinclair was born in 1975 in Unionville, Missouri. After attending Indian Hills Community College, she worked for the Daily Iowegian newspaper in Centerville and the Wayne County Community School District. She served on the Wayne County Board of Supervisors from 2005-2012, when she successfully ran for the Iowa Senate. A Republican, she has represented District 14 (Decatur, Wayne, Clarke, Lucas, and parts of Marion and Jasper counties) from 2013-2013 and District 12 (Decatur, Wayne, Lucas, Clarke, Madison, Adair, and parts of Appanoose, Union, and Dallas counties) beginning in 2023. In 2022, Sinclair was elected president of the Iowa Senate.
