Biography

Jackie Smith was born in 1955 in Sioux City, where she attended North High and Briar Cliff University. After earning a masters from Baylor, Smith spent more than 30 years working as a speech-language pathologist. From 2008-2016, she served on the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors. In 2018, she ran successfully for the Iowa Senate as a Democrat, representing District 7 (Sioux City) from 2019-2023.
