Biography
Annette Sweeney was born in 1957 and raised on her family’s farm near Radcliffe, Iowa. After graduating from Concordia College, she taught middle school English in Illinois for a short time before returning home following her father’s death to help run her family’s agricultural operation. In 2008, Sweeney ran for the Iowa House as a Republican and won, representing District 44 (Hardin and parts of Marshall County) from 2009-2013. She later ran for and won a special election for the Iowa Senate, serving District 25 (Hardin, Grundy, and parts of Story and Butler counties) from 2018-2023 and District 27 (Hardin, Grundy, Powesheik, and parts of Tama and Black Hawk counties) beginning in 2023.
