Biography

Courtney Maxwell Greene was one of the interviewers for the Hard Won, Not Done oral history of Iowa Women legislators (IWA 1278). She and other interviewers were drawn from the board of the 50/50 in 2020 organization, which sought to equalize gender representation in Iowa elected offices and which was dissolved in 2020.

Maxwell Greene began her career as an on-air reporter for WHO 13 in Des Moines, and spent about 15 years as a television journalist and anchor before entering politics as the press secretary for Iowa governor Chet Culver. Maxwell Greene has also worked as a public information bureau chief for the Iowa Department of Public Safety, a public relations executive for Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and communications director for Iowa Workforce Development. In 2023, she returned to WHO 13 as an on-air contributor while working as director of external partnerships and community engagement for UnityPoint Health. In addition to the 50/50 in 2020 advisory council, Maxwell Greene has also served on the boards of Iowa Public Television Broadcasting and the Cedar Rapids Metro YMCA.
