Biography

Georgia Margaret Peeso, the youngest child of Lana Bowers Peeso and Melvin Moses Peeso, was born in Spencer, Iowa on August 2, 1882. She spent her entire life in Spencer, and had the distinction of having been born and having died in the same house. Peeso grew up with an older brother, Louis, and an older sister, Mary "Matie." Peeso received her education in the Spencer schools and taught in Clay County rural schools in Spencer and Every. On October 22, 1912 she married William Walter Haygarth. William Haygarth was a businessman in Spencer, owning and operating the Haygarth Drug Store and Soda Fountain. The couple had one son, George W. Haygarth.

Georgia Haygarth was a member of Grace Methodist church in Spencer. She took an active interest in church affairs and sang for many years in the church choir.

William Haygarth died May 4, 1933 after falling from the second floor porch of their home. Georgia Haygarth died March 27, 1952.
