Biography
Dick Myers was born October 29, 1934 in Iowa City. He ran a truck stop and motorcycle shop in Coralville and was elected as a Republican to the Coralville city council in 1969. He also served as Coralville mayor and a longtime Johnson county supervisor. Myers eventually switched parties and became a Democrat, and it was as a member of that party that he represented parts of Iowa City and Johnson county in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1994 to 2005 (District 49 from 1994 to 2003 and District 30 from January to August 2003, when he resigned his seat due to health issues. He served as Minority Leader in the House from 2000 to 2003.
