Biography

Pam Jochum was born in 1954 in Dubuque and graduated from Loras College, where she later worked as an administrator. A Democrat, she has represented parts of the Dubuque area in the Iowa legislature since 1993, serving House District 35 from 1993-2003, House District 27 from 2003-2009, Senate District 14 from 2009-2013, and Senate District 50 beginning in 2013. Jochum was president of the Iowa Senate from 2013-2017 and became Senate minority leader in 2023.
