Biography
Doris Ann Peick was born September 22, 1933 in Jones County, Iowa. She graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids and took classes at several colleges, including Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa. She married Richard L. Peick in 1962; the couple had two children. Peick worked at Rockwell-Collins for 38 years, and also served as a steward in the course of her membership with the IBEW Local 1362 and HERE Local 497 unions. A Democrat, she was elected to represent Iowa House District 52 (parts of Linn County) in 1982, serving two terms. Known to many as "Mother" Peick, she mentored and served as campaign manager for many other Cedar Rapids politicians. Peick passed away in 2012.
