Biography
Giang Pham was born in Haiphong, Vietnam in the early 1990s. While living in Haiphong, she was inspired to study Japanese culture and language after reading a novel by Haruki Murakami. Her parents encouraged her to travel to Hanoi to pursue an education in Japanese language, and Giang eventually secured a scholarship to study Japanese in Fukuoka, Japan and later a business degree in Niigata, Japan. After completing her studies, Giang worked as a sales representative at an earth-moving machinery company and volunteered in Tokyo and other cities in southern Japan. While taking a class in Vietnamese cooking, Giang met her husband, an IT engineer who worked at a nearby office in Tokyo. Giang then became a partner and marketing lead for a clothing design business with a friend from Vietnam who also lived in Japan. The business sold traditional Vietnamese áo dài for Japanese children and adults and also ningyō dolls in Vietnamese clothing.
