Biography

Tanya Zanish-Belcher was born March 25, 1961 in Springfield, Ohio to William Daniel and Lois Marie (Gravenkemper) Zanish. She earned a BA in history from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1983 and an MA in archival administration from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1990. Zanish-Belcher worked as an archivist for the state of Alabama from 1989 to 1994, and has served as curator of the Archives of Women in Science and Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU) in Ames, Iowa since 1995. In 1998, Zanish-Belcher became ISU's head of special collections and university archives, and in 2013 she took up a similar role at Wake Forest University. From 2000-2001, Zanish-Belcher conducted several oral history interviews on sustainable agriculture in partnership with the Iowa Women's Archives' Rural Women's Project, supported by funding from a Vision 20/20 grant from the Kellogg Foundation. These interviews are part of the Voices from the Land: An Oral History Project in Iowa collection (IWA0825).
