Biography

Kimela Nelson was born in 1946 in Torrance Beach, California. She was an activist for women’s rights, and worked on the University of Iowa campus for the Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC) from 1987 to 1991. From 1994 to 1998, Nelson taught in the University of Iowa American Sign Language Program. In 1998 she became the program coordinator. Nelson died in 2008.
