Biography

Caroline Louise Hopwood was born in 1866, near Williamsburg, Iowa to Emily A. Gans and Dr. Moses W. Hopwood. She lived and worked on farms throughout her life. In 1885, Caroline Hopwood married George Washington Cook in Oxford, Iowa. They had six children, Emily Cook (1886-1899), Mary Etta Cook (1888-1974), Nora Bell Cook (1892-1964), Vera Irene Cook (1894-unknown), Eldon Jesse Cook (1900-1982), and Everett Arthur Cook (1903-unknown). From 1883 until her death in 1912, Cook kept a diary that described daily activities and life on the farm.
