This book is a thesis dissertation for the degree of Master of Landscape Architecture, Cornell University. Its content deals almost exclusively with Ian Hamilton Finlay's spurned 1988 commission for a revolutionary garden at the former site of the Hotel des Menus Plaisirs, Versailles.
