Paris-Moscow was one of four major exhibitions curated and designed by the Pompidou Centre dealing with the art connections in Paris and between Paris and three other major cities in the first third of the 20th century. The other exhibitions were Paris-Berlin, Paris-New York and Paris-Paris. This catalogue, the most extensively illustrated book dealing with Russian avant garde books, was published to coincide with the exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Curated by Deborah Wye and Margit Rowell, the catalogue is organized into the following sections: Transform the World! 1916-33 and Building Socialism 1924-34. The first section includes Suprematism and the Non-objective Vision, Popular Revolutionalry Imagery, Books for Children, Constructivist Graphic Design and Photography and Photomontage. The second section includes Architecture and Industry, Photography in the Service of Propaganda, Non-official Publications. The collection af Russian Avant-Garde books was a gift from the Judith Rothschild Foundation and was conceived and organized by its trustee, Harvey Shipley Miller.
