Homage a Van Gogh, 1990
Depicts one of the self-portaits by Van Gogh but instead of impasto to create the image, Dupont uses different colored letters of the alphabet and overprints some sections. The texts were found by Dupont from art and philosophical writings and fragmented selections were painted by the artist. The work is a palimpset containing visual symbols, rebuses and text.
