The illustration was done by Don Bolognese and the poem reads, "Said Dorothy Hughes to Helen Hocking, 'I can't for the life of me get on this stocking!' The cover of the book depicts a cyclist who is composed of elements of graphic design e.g., exclamation point, question mark, parenthsis, commas, period, bracket, not-equal-to sign. This is the deluxe edition which contains 5 prints numbered 2/60 and prints on velin d'arche numbered 2/20. The Sackner Archive also holds "The Cyclist" by William Jay Smith published in 1995 by Stone House Press. The poem written by Smith tells the story of the forced exile of American Indians from Georgia to the territory west of the Mississippi in 1838. The journey on which many died became known as the Trail of Tears. Dupont made an engraving that utilized Indian symbols relating to Smith's poem. Dupont's cover design depicted rows of multi-colored tear drops. Thirty six copies of this book were signed by the authors anf printed on Japon paper; the remainder were unsigned and printed on ordinary paper. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
