Albrecht, Herbert W.

 Person

Biography

Herbert W. Albrecht, a farmer in Fairbank, Buchanan County, Iowa, was a member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO) and collected many related documents. The NFO was founded in Corning, Iowa, in 1955. It grew out of drought and low livestock prices. Non-partisan and nonpolitical, the National Farmers Organization's membership (unlike many other farm groups such as the Farm Bureau) is only open to farmers. It is organized along county, congressional district, state, and national levels, with its strongest influence in the Midwest (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Illinois). The NFO works to promote target prices, collective bargaining, and price contracts.
