Scope and Contents

This is number three in the Arkhive series of documents of the avant-garde. It consists of three sets of reprinted texts written by writers associated with Georges Bataille, some of whom were members of his Acephale group and others were members of Surrealist groups in Paris and New York. What unites these texts is their form, which derives from that of dictionaries or encyclopaedias. The content of "Critical Dictionary" has several anti-religious themes as well as absurd texts with accompanying illustrations. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
