Ein Ha Fur Kluge Blicke, 1991
The book is based upon a German translation of a Khlebnikov poem, viz. every other page has a line of poetry with two or three letters in bold type face, opposing a stylized, calligraphic-like rendering of these letters by Frenken. An original painted, calligraphic drawing by Frenken is present near the title page. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
Love is Color - Color is Black / Frenken Wil., 1981
The book documents performances using black tar for varied materials. The pieces include hand print paintings, objects, frottages, and artist books. The book object is the same book wrapped in linen and tarred on the inside such that the second copy of the book cannot be accessed. Some of the black tar can be seen beneath the fine mesh linen. -- Source of annotation: Marvin or Ruth Sackner.
