Materials Specific Details
The James McBey Watermark Collection, originally consisted of 57 pieces of blank historical papers, mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries bearing watermarks of varying quality. Individual sets of this collection were originally sold only to institutions but a copy was provided to me to aid in my ongoing research. I removed specimens 18 and 32 and transferred them to my collection of papers available for small sample destructive testing leading to the development of non-destructive paper testing methods (currently held in the UI Libraries Conservation Department). The empty folders for 18 and 32 are at the back of the collection along with additional paper specimens I’ve added.
