Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The papers of Daniel A. Wallace are composed of business correspondence, speeches, press releases, photographs, clippings, books, pamphlets, published and unpublished writings, manuscripts of a proposed book on the Wallace family, and a text for high school students. Much of the business correspondence in this inventory concerns Mr. Wallace's interest in the various cooperative developments in the United States as well as his relationship with the United States Department of Agriculture for which his brother Henry C. Wallace served as Secretary of Agriculture under President Harding and his nephew Henry A. Wallace served in the same position under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Over half of the entries are speeches, press releases, and reports of various agricultural organizations of which Daniel A. Wallace was a member. The remaining papers consist of published and unpublished works of Mr. Wallace. The business correspondence is arranged chronologically in the first twelve folders (1905-1954) and by topic in the remaining sixty-nine folders. There are 1,421 entries in nine boxes. A detailed index is available in the repository.
