There is no way to fix the location where this cookbook originated, but the measures and recipes indicate that it is from England. One recipe in this book is dated 1886 and another is dated August 31st ’92. There are also pages from Woman magazine laid in, and these are dated January 4, 1893. However, the recipes in the first part of this cookbook look older than that, and probably date from the mid to late 19th century. This book is written in many hands, suggesting either many owners or that its owner had many contributors to their recipe book. The recipes are all for food with no medicinal or household products included.
