Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection contains exhibition materials from Lisa Jane Persky's show that was held at The Paul and Linda Douglas Gallery at The Englert Theatre from March 22-June 20, 2016. The exhibit was title "X-Offenders: A Year in the Life of a Proto-Punk, 1976.

Lisa Jane Persky description of her exhibit: "Loosely based on a paper given by artist, actress, photographer and journalist Lisa Jane Perksy at The Experience Music Project Pop Conference in 2015, the photographs are presented as panels that communicate the intimate story of Downtown New York City at and around ground zero of the US Punk movement. Forty photographs from forty years ago cover each of the artistic areas of Persky's life, tying them and the people in it together. In the spirit of punk, the photographs are printed latex on vinyl panels with grommets and as homage to oncoming UK seditionaries, two large safety pins loop through these as hangers.
