Scope and Contents

The Julian Gromer Travelogues contains three films: "Atlantic Coast Wonderland", 1952 (2800 ft., 78 minutes); "Jewels of the Pacific", 1953 (2900 ft.); and "Idaho Adventure", 1958 (2400 ft., 67 minutes).

Three feature-length travelogues produced by a lecturer represented in the 1940s and 1950s by the Redpath Agency.

Copyright to the films was given with the films themselves; they have been migrated to DVDcam and DVD versions. The DVDcam version is editable.

The DVDs and reel-to-reel (the whole collection) has been moved to IRA cool storage.

Abstract

Julian Gromer was a lecturer represented by the Redpath Agency in the 1940s and 1950s. He lectured against travelogue films that he directed and shot himself, and he was accompanied by sound tracks developed with his wife. This collection consists of three of the feature length travelogues.

Method of Acquisition

These films were given to the University of Iowa Libraries by Gromer's sons, Gary and John Gromer, in December 2005. Copyright to the films was also donated to the University.
