Scope and Contents

This collection is apparently the material that Curtis MacDougall collected for writing his book Gideon's Army.

Boxes 1-60 are at third floor stacks Boxes 61-64 are at n60:05:5-6 Boxeso 65-67 are at f5:02:6-7

The O'Brien addendum has parts of it elsewhere (The Maine Historical Society) and donor would like that mentioned in the finding aid. So when that addendum is processed, please make a note of this. Abstract

Correspondence, speeches, reports, business records, articles, campaign materials, fact sheets, form letters, directives, telegrams, pamphlets, press releases, clippings, and other related material concerning the party and the national election of 1948.

Method of Acquisition

The original portion of this collection was given to the University of Iowa in 1966 by Curtis MacDougall. The Progressive Party of Pennsylvania, the Progressive Citizens of America, and the National Progressive Party papers were donated by Ralph Keyes in 2012. Frank Turner donated in 2009.
