Biographical / Historical
Denny Lien (1945-2023), earned a B.A. at Moorhead Minnesota State College, an M.A. in English at the University of Arizona, and an M.A.in Library Science at the University of Minnesota. Lien was a research librarian at Wilson Library at the University of Minnesota from 1974-2013, "his brilliant research skills, phenomenal memory, and calm demeanor was praised by colleagues and clients alike."(“Obituary of Dennis Kieth Lien | Cremation Society of Minnesota,” n.d.) Outside of reference, Lien was an avid fan and collector of science fiction books, comics, and pulp magazines. He was a beloved and active member of Minnesota science fiction fandom, a mainstay of the Minnesota Science Fiction Society, and convention Minicon. Lien co-authored the musical parody "Midwest Side Story," and wrote columns and articles for science fiction fanzines and Amateur Press Associations (APA).
