Biographical / Historical
The Iowa Mountaineers was organized in 1940 and incorporated in 1943. The purpose of the group was to promote outdoor recreation associated with mountain climbing, wilderness camping, hiking, and mountaineering. In addition, the group sponsored annual film lectures and programs covering the exploration and experiences of adventure photographers, mountaineers, and world travelers.
