Scope and Content Note
The American Indian Student Association was established in fall 1989 and was renamed the Native American Student Association (NASA) in fall 2013. Student members have organized an annual Powwow since April 1990. Powwow features the customs, songs, dances, foods, and fashions of various Native American tribes, with participants traveling from afar to the event. The year 2014 was the only year the NASA members voted not to hold a Powwow, because it had grown too large for the members to administer. The following year Powwow returned, with assistance from the Native American Council, and the annual event continues as a University tradition.
