D.C. Spriestersbach was faculty in Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Iowa beginning in 1940. He served as Dean of the Graduate College from 1965-1987, and was Interim University President from 1981-1982. These interviews were conducted for his book, "The Way it Was: The University of Iowa, 1964-1989," published by the University of Iowa Press in 1999. "The Way it Was," draws upon his personal files, the university archives, and interviews with many faculty members and administrators, Spriestersbach has created both an institutional and a personal history of the University of Iowa.
