Scope and Contents
The Gussie Bernstein papers date from 1925 to 2016 and measure approximately 7.5 linear inches. The papers are arranged into four series: Biographical, Photographs, Publications, and Artifacts.
The Biographical series (1925-2004) general folder contains a guest list, Bernstein’s obituary, Jack Bernstein’s American Legion School award for Citizenship, Bernstein’s Board of Education diploma, Jack Bernstein’s Talmud Torah Diploma, and newspaper clippings about Samuel Bernstein’s death and the marriage of Bernstein’s son James to Gail Verson. The series also includes passports, a biography of Sam Bernstein, and a wedding anniversary plaque.
The Photograph series (1954-1981) contains Bar Mitzvah, wedding, and family photographs.
The donor file indicates that the Saturday in the Park books and the Orpheum book in the Publications series (1949-2016) are associated with Bernstein’s son, David Bernstein.
