The Ione “Shad” Shadduck papers date from 1923 to 2022 and measure two linear feet in five boxes. The papers are arranged in four series: Biographical, Writing, Photographs, and Artifacts. The Biographical series (1949-2022) holds materials related to Shadduck’s education, military service, teaching and legal careers, and awards throughout her life. The Writing series (1943-2015) contains Shadduck’s MA and PhD theses and a book of poetry and letters to the editor. A copy of a workbook written by Shadduck, “Study of Human Movement,” and an accompanying film based on the workbook are held in the series. The series is completed by articles written about physical education. The Photographs series (1923-1952) includes two photograph albums and several additional photographs. The Artifacts series has Shadduck’s military dog tags, pins, and stripes. There are buttons relating to politics and women’s rights, and stamps.
