Biographical / Historical

Eileen Ferreter was born on May 4, 1915 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her father passed away in 1924, when she was nine years old. Ferreter attended Marion High School and then went on to Iowa State Teachers College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and the honorary club Purple Arrow. After graduating from college in 1935, Ferreter held a teaching position in Wellsburg, Iowa followed by a position in Tipton, Iowa where she taught the sixth grade. In June of 1942, she was married to Theodore Albaugh. Eileen Albaugh taught junior high at Tipton from 1944 to 1952, when bulbar polio caused her death at the age of 37.

The papers (donor no. 830) were donated in 2001 by Thomas J. Connors, who purchased the papers at the Eastern Market Flea Market in Washington D.C.
