Leona Call papers
Scope and Contents
The materials date from 1885 to 1943 and consist of three newspaper clippings and one magazine article about Leona Call. The newspaper clippings include Call's obituary and her brother's obituary, as well as a picture of her when she became a full professor. The magazine article honors her retirement from teaching.

Biographical / Historical
Leona Call was a Professor of Greek during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At the State University of Iowa (now the University of Iowa), she headed the department of Greek from 1885 until her retirement in 1908. At the State University of Iowa Call helped establish the Young Women's Christian Association (now defunct). During World War I she headed the Iowa Educational Division in National Defense.
