Women Aware, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Sioux City, Iowa, which was started in 1979. Women Aware uses self-determination and self-help strategies to help its clients work toward emotional and economic stability. Its primary focus is on displaced homemakers and single parent homemakers, providing advocacy, education, information, counseling, referral and support. In 1984, Women Aware, Inc. began to hold an annual Women of Excellence award ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of Sioux City area women.
