The Ruth Koob Collection consists of correspondence and training materials sent to Ruth Koob by The Frontier Press Company. The letters from R. L. Warner, a manager for the Frontier Press Company, are personal responses to Koob's reflections on her abilities as a saleswoman for the company. The training materials include speaking points, practice selling scripts, and weekly "stimulators" with inspirational selling stories and advice from others in the field.

Biographical / Historical

Ruth Koob lived her adult life in Waverly, Iowa. In the summer for 1934 Koob began a 75 day contract with the Frontier Press Company as sales representative. In May of 1934, Koob attended a training seminar for the company in Des Moines to sell the Lincoln Library, a popular reference book. After her return to Waverly, she continued to receive words of encouragement and advice from her manager as well as weekly sales advice sheets.
