Biographical / Historical

J. Barbara Alvord is a former Iowa educator who served as English Department Head at Waterloo East High, Associate Principle at Ames High School, and Assistant Superintendent in the South Tama County School System.

After leaving education, she was a Certified Financial Planner and stock broker in Marshalltown. She retired in 1997 as a Marketing Officer with The Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, to devote her time to writing. Her poetry has been published in "Lyrical Iowa, Byline" and Cayuse Press zines: "Retrozine" and "The Green Tricycle." One of her plays, "Due Time," has been perfored at Living History Farms in Iowa.
