Mabel Elizabeth Dahlstrom Borg was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Drake University. In 1930, Dahlstrom married Carl O. Borg. She became co-partner of Dahlstrom Funeral Home, which was established by her father, at the age of 40. She was a former president of The Des Moines Business and Professional Women’s Club and of the Wesley Redbird chapters of Questers and East High Alumni Association.

She was also a member of the state and national Funeral Directors Association, the American Association of University Women, the Hawkeye chapter Order of the Eastern Star, the Women’s Bureau chamber of Commerce, Drake Alumni Association, Polk County Historical Society, Argonne American Legion, Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Luther Park auxiliaries, and the Des Moines’ Botanical Center, Art Center, and Library Board. \

Borg died in 1992 at the age of 92.
