Biographical / Historical

Leta M. Cornelius was a student from Marion, Iowa. Her domestic science notebook from 1913 includes notes on the "five food principles," "housekeeper duties," and numerous recipes. Some recipes include grape marmalade, Scottish fancies, cheese straws, and peach dumplings. The notebook is worn and shows obvious signs of use in the kitchen, including stains and water marks.
